Dear Family:
There is an unusual story in the 28th chapter of Exodus. It
is a story of the selection of Aaron and his sons as priests for God.
God instructed Moses to select the very best artisans to
make the garments for Aaron and his sons to wear as priest. The detail is
quite elaborate with each item having tremendous symbolism.
Of the many lessons and thoughts contained in this story,
there is one that is only mentioned in passing, "So you
shall speak to all who are gifted artisans, whom I have filled with the
spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron's garments, to consecrate him,
that he may minister to Me as priest. All the gifted
artisans, whom God had filled with the spirit of wisdom were to be chosen.
There are a lot of fine artisans but there are only a few
who are gifted and filled with the spirit of wisdom are selected to accomplish God's
purpose.
Notice the reason for God having these artisans chosen, "
that they may make Aaron's garments, to consecrate him, that he may minister
to Me as priest. They were to make Aaron's garments to
consecrate him to minister to God as priest.
We tend to think of the minister as being a minister to the
people but here Aaron is to minister to God and the artisans were selected
to make it possible for Aaron to be able to fulfill his ministry. He is
minister to God first and as a result of his ministering to God he is a
priest to the people.
It is impossible for a church or minister to properly
fulfill his calling alone. It takes those around him who type the messages,
prepare the music, clean the meeting place, arrange the seating, control the
traffic, maintain the lighting, etc. All of these are required to accomplish
the goal.
I thank God that he has given me gifted artisans to prepare
and maintain Churches hosting. It would be impossible for me to do what I
feel God has called me to do without the assistance of Ardyce, Charlie and
Tim. It is only because God has given each the creative talents and wisdom
to use them that this web site is possible. I cannot minister to the readers
who come to these pages for inspiration, encouragement and comfort from
knowing that our prayer partners all around the world are voicing their
prayer requests to God. I cannot minister to those like
"mere mist" without the
unselfish assistance of these artisans. Your gift, wisdom and unselfish
assistance make it possible for both of us to have a part in the
ministry of each ministry we sponsor on Churcheshosting. Each person they minister to and the glory they
bring to God will be facilitated because we did what we were called to do on
their behalf before God. Amazing that we can have a part in foreign
missions.
Exod 28:1-3
1 "Now take Aaron your brother, and his sons with him, from among the
children of Israel, that he may minister to Me as priest, Aaron and Aaron's
sons: Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
2 "And you shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother, for glory and
for beauty.
3 "So you shall speak to all who are gifted artisans, whom I have filled
with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron's garments, to
consecrate him, that he may minister to Me as priest. (NKJ)
Notice what is said here in verse 3,
"that they may make Aaron's garments, to consecrate him, that he may
minister to Me as priest".
These artisans are making garments to consecrate the priest that they
may minister to who? To God! When we do our part on behalf of these
ministries we are helping consecrate them that they may minister to God.
It is only through your service to others that "others" are
able to fulfill the purpose God has created them to do. We never know the
impact our small contributions of time, talent, prayer and dollars have on
the world around us. Every single thing that person accomplishes in
this life you have had a part in it regardless of how small.
When I consider the impact Billy Graham and Bill Gates have
had on the world I have to consider the small insignificant thing someone
did in their lives that helped them to become who they are.
There is an old saying, "use it or lose it." The principle
applies to everything in life whether skills, talents, knowledge and even
our bodies. Yet, at the same time when we use these things they grow better and
stronger. Then when we share them they multiply and multiply.
God calls each of us to be ministers to Him. To bring glory
and honor to His name. When our relationship with God is as it should be and
our ministry to Him is as it should be, then we will be priests to the people
around us.
Love ya'
Dad
